Interesting to me comparison below:
The GTI has as nice an interior as the GLA, more HP, more cargo volume and depending on options costs wayyyyy less. The Mazda3 is of course a bargain, but I’d spend a bit extra and get the GTI. Hypothetically, of course, because if I was actually shopping for a hatch/crossover for myself, I’d get a Focus RS.

No. Too small back seat, will not baby. Plus you get labeled as "one of those".

What's the smallest realistically babyable backseat?

I just went through this for, quite literally, MONTHS! To be fair, a GTI/WRX/FoST will fit A baby. I was informed that there will be more than A baby within the next year, so I had to go midsize. Legacy has the biggest interior room for a midsize car I have ever seen. It's phenomenal.

I really don't get why the mazda3 is so expensive its basically the same price as a focus stand doesn't touch the performance but has a nicer interior idk just feel like it should max out at 24 not 32

I can't believe you can pay almost $30k for a non-speed Mazda 3, don't they start around $16k?

Honestly, for the price, this is the worst vehicle of the three. The fit and finish is awful and the engine isn't anything remarkably special. Not until you get to the AMG version.
I know it's been a sales success for MB with the CLA and GLA here in the States, but I am wholly unimpressed. Even the Mazda3 does a better job with the interior than MB does. It feels more premium with actual soft touch materials and actual leather at that price point instead of the hard plastics and that MB TEX bullshit.

I think you might need an M5

That’s the highest trim with $2600 worth of options of some kind. Yeah, no reason to pay $30k for a Mazda3.

Haven’t driven a current-gen Mazda3, but the Mazda6 has a pretty nice interior. Ruined only by the tiny and poorly integrated nav screen. The GTI interior? It’s in another ballpark.

Was it a 2016? Because they took the larger screen out of the Mazda3 and updated the Mazda6 interior to more closely resemble the Mazda3.

No, 2015, possibly 2014... Sounds like a nice improvement.

I drive a 2015 GTI 4door and regularly put the world’s largest child seat back there (a full-blown convertible booster with tons of padding). My daughter has plenty of room and I can fit 2 adults back there too in a pinch. Also, it has much lower sills than most other cars we checked out, so she can actually see what’s going by outside...

Turbo + 6MT means GTI is the answer here.
Though I am admittedly bias for VAG products.

And let’s be honest, the GTI is more like 225 HP. I have a Mk6 that I bought new in 2011 and DD. The only thing I’d trade it in for is a new R.

You might be right about that...

I could put a child seat behind the passenger seat and be ok, but not behind the drivers seat as well. I’m a touch over 6’4”. It was unpossible!
Plus, the car is pretty much the meh of German cars. Well, VW is the Toyota of Germany for visual excitement to me. But it rode pretty well despite its list of flaws.

6’4”? Yeah - I bet that would pretty much eliminate any room behind you. The 2015 has a longer wheelbase than the 2014 but even then your pushing your luck...

Yeah, no doubt. It makes car buying very difficult. The 2015 was definitely bigger, but not by much. Definitely not enough. There are times when I'm not so happy to be Groot.
